I had always had to watch my weight even as a little child. As I got older I started taking diet pills to loose weight and could always keep it pretty much in check as long as I took the diet pills. However, when I started getting older I was too afraid to take the diet pills because of the adverse side affects from them. From there I went to Weight Watchers, Atkins, and various other diets. I would loose and just gain it back. Then one day my best friend called me and told me she was going to Mexico to have Lap Band surgery to loose weight. I told her that I thought she had lost her mind, however, she told me that I could either go with her or she was going to go by herself, so I decided to go with her. She had done a lot of research on the doctor and I knew that she had made up her mind. We went to Tijuana together, she had the surgery, and I have to say that we were both amazed at how wonderful we were treated.

Within nine months she had lost almost 90 lbs. All of our friends saw such a remarkable difference in her and the way that she felt about herself that we all started to pay a lot of attention. Needless to say, 9 months after she had her surgery, I and our other best friend went to have Lap Band surgery. I had health issues involved. I had high blood pressure and high blood sugar. All of these are gone since I have lost my weight. Since that time my son has gone to Dr. Huacuz to have the surgery and has ll0 lbs. since January 2008.

To Eureta, again, thank you. Not only did you help me through the surgery, you continually help in keeping my weight in check even a year after surgery. Thank you for being a great friend and having such a wonderful spirit by making everyone feel special and capable of success is a gift you give us all.

My journey to becoming a new person was at first foggy but soon became clear when I got a phone call one evening. Eureta called me one evening after I had searched the web site and with her gentle but informative conversation I knew this was God leading me down this path. She explained the procedure in my terms to where I really didn't have any questions. She described each step of the way. From booking the flight to getting to the Dr. office. Over the next couple of weeks before my surgery she called me at least 1 time weekly checking on me, seeing if I had any questions. She was always so excited for me, like it was her going through it all over. This was so comforting knowing she had been through it and would be by my side.
Before I knew it we were meeting Eureta at the airport and I felt like I was meeting up with a friend I hadn't seen in a while. We were picked up and taken to Dr. Huacuz office. Once there and getting some paper work taken care of, I was on my way prepping for surgery. I spoke with 2 other Dr.s. One listening to my heart, and asking background information, and psychologists . The doctor explains and shows you the band and then before I knew it I was out of surgery. Recovery is great. I didn't hurt to bad at all. Just a little sore. I was home in 2 days. I had some nausea but in a week I was back to somewhat the old self. I mean I felt normal for the most part but felt the new me trying to shine through.
My concern though is finding a good Dr. here close to me. I have been to 2 so far. I feel like they were both good dr.s but felt like they don't do the fills like they should. They just put a little in and see you in a month. I finally this last fill told the Dr. that I didn't feel any restriction and needed to feel that. Now he listened and I finally for the first time fill my restriction. Eureta even helped me find a doctor close to me as well.
The respect and love for Dr. Huacuz and his staff and Eureta is great. I know that I would have not done this without all the information and encouragement from Eureta. She is amazing. To this day I get emails and speak with her and I know she is busy. She takes the time to listen still. Dr. Huacuz calls to check on me too. I love this and I have never had a Dr. himself call and check on me. Not to mention he gives you HIS number not answering machine, when you call you will talk to HIM. That's unreal! I just can't put it all in words.
If your thinking of having this done. I would do it with Dr. Huacuz and his staff. He will take care of you with everything he has. The before care and after care is out of this world.

My stay here at the Huacuz Surgical Center was wonderful. Everyone made me feel like family although I don't know Spanish it was great. Hopefully when I come back I'll at least know some Spanish. Overall everyone and I mean everyone was great and I did say when I come back. I hope to have at least one more procedure done within the next 2 or 3 years. Eureta was the best with helping me understand everything before and after the procedure. She may not know this, but I appreciated everything she has done for me in helping me make up my mind to have the surgery. She never gave up on me. She is what I call a real Texas Sweetheart. Although my procedure is over, today starts Catina Williams day to begin her journey in making a difference in my life by loosing weight. I have been fighting with this for years. I can now say bye bye to that extra me that I have carried around for years. Thanks again to Eureta and the Huacuz Surgical Center for making this happen.
